FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
April 26 2011
The Order of the Dragon does not endorse Pastor Terry Jones, his church, nor his ideology. We also find his divisive tactics and ideology antithetical to a cohesive community spirit.
An American spirit which the Order of the Dragon strives to uphold. The Order of the Dragon beleives in the American way and the American spirit. This spirit has a body, and it is the U.S. Constitution.
Simply put, the First Amendment guarantees of free speech and assembly apply to Pastor Jones, as they do to everyone else. Therefore, we call upon concerned citizens to support Pastor Jones rights.
Rights have been disappearing in America and judges like Mark Somers are the cause, Today it's Jones, tomorrow it could be you or me. If we don't defend Jones' right to speak, who will defend our right when that time comes. And it will come.

Due credit to Muslims for sending the right message on Terry Jones
by Tim Kowal on April 25, 2011
As readers will recall, I previously pointed out that many Americans harbor suspicions whether “moderate Islam” bears any problematic underlying connection to the “radical Islam” or “Islamism” practiced by our shadowy ideological enemies. I argued that, even if we assume no such connections exist in reality, one of the reasons connections do exist in perception has to do with a “messaging” problem and, further, that moderate Muslims might be able to take steps to address it. Given Dearborn Muslims’ apparently unequivocal message supporting Jones’s First Amendment right to voice his message—even while they strongly condemn that message—BSK and James Hanley suggest that those critical of Muslim messaging should at least acknowledge that Mr. Walid and other moderate Muslims got the messaging basically right here. (See also here, here, and here.)
It’s a good point, and it deserves a response on a few different levels.

Qana victims remembered in Dearborn, Bitar family still seeking justice for two sons killed in attacks

DEARBORN – Many are familiar with the old saying, "Time heals all wounds." But for Haidar Bitar of Dearborn, dealing with the deaths of his two sons Hadi and Abdulmohsen, who died in 1996 when Israeli forces shelled a clearly-marked UN compound in southern Lebanon, gets harder with each passing year.

"The more the time passes the more difficult it gets," he said. "Today, they would be 24, 25 years old, they left this life for nothing, no reason.
"If they were here today they could be something in society and do something to help their community, do something good; as time passes by it hurts more and more."
Bitar was among the speakers on Sunday, April 17 at the Islamic Center of America's 5th and 15th annual commemorations of the tragedies in Dearborn's sister city in Lebanon, Qana, which occurred in 1996 and 2006.
Both of the Bitar children were Dearborn citizens at the time visiting their grandmother. The last time Haidar spoke to his sons, they told him they had to flee with their grandmother from her home because the Israeli army announced they were going to bomb the area. She was old and did not drive so the closest place to seek safety was the UN compound.
Detroit Transit appeals free speech verdict, demands sharia on Dearborn buses
Posted on April 26, 2011 by creeping
Emboldened by the enforcement of sharia on Terry Jones in Dearborn? Atlas Shrugs reports, Detroit Transit Appeals Our Free Speech Victory Verdict on Freedom Buses Seeks to Impose Sharia (Blasphemy) Laws on Dearborn Buses:

Back on April 2, I happily announced that we had won in our year-long struggle against the violation of our first amendment rights in Dearborn/Detroit after they refused AFDI/SIOA’s bus ads offering assistance to apostates under death fatwas. Thousands of Muslims who have left Islam have been murdered under the sharia (Islamic law). We have seen an increase in honor killings in the United States, and resources for Muslims are limited as the threat comes not just from the family but many times from the mosque and the community.
Despite the fact that we won and free speech prevailed, Detroit Transit is appealing the ruling. Your taxpayer dollars are being used to enforce the sharia. Ghastly. After the court ruled in our favor, we submitted the new contracts to CBS. But late last week, SMART filed an emergency motion to ask the court to stay its order so that SMART can appeal. To get the court to stay its own order, they must show that the court totally blew the call and SMART has a high probability of succeeding on its appeal. Keep in mind the court granted our initial relief because the court found I had a “likelihood of success.” Essentially this is SMART appeal is attempting to call a mulligan, seeking a second and third bite at the apple
Spencer: Koran-Burning Pastor Jailed for Thoughtcrime
In Human Events this morning I discuss the free speech showdown in Michigan:

On Good Friday in Dearborn, Mich., the notorious Koran-burning pastor Terry Jones was jailed and fined for the crime of refusing to pay a so-called “peace bond” to cover the costs of extra police protection for Jones’ planned demonstration outside the Islamic Center of America in Dearborn. Judge Mark Somers also ordered Jones to stay away from the massive Dearborn mosque for three years.
This is a restriction on the freedom of speech and the freedom of expression that Islamic supremacists are certainly going to try to use in the future to press for even more.
Jones was only in jail briefly, and the fine was a symbolic one dollar, but clearly Dearborn authorities see him as a threat to public order. Why? Was Jones threatening to burn down the mosque, using copies of the Koran as kindling? Did he threaten the Dearborn Muslims—or Muslims anywhere else? Did he strap a suicide vest to himself and detonate it in a crowd of infidels? Did he plant explosives in his underwear and try to blow up an airliner in mid-flight? Did he load a car with explosives and try to explode it on a crowded night in Times Square? Did he murder 13 Americans while shooting “Allahu Akbar” at Fort Hood? Did he murder an American serviceman outside a military recruiting center in Little Rock for Allah and Islam?
